WHAT IS YOUR GAS TELLING YOU?

Updated: Jun 9, 2023

What is your gas telling you? | Living in Wellness GAPS Blog

There are three types of gas that occur naturally within the body: gas within our stomach that comes out as burping, gas within our intestines that causes bloating and gas within our intestines that escapes out the back end as farts. All three types can cause unpleasant symptoms at the most inopportune time! Ever held in a fart at a party, or blamed that escaped fart on another person? Ever let a burp out in front of someone accidentally, like your boss or a girlfriend/boyfriend? Or had to loosen your belt in public to relieve the tightness? Chances are you have experienced one of these scenarios at least once! And there’s a good chance you don’t know why it’s caused and how to deal with it. Right?

All the mystical magic happens within out gut. We can feel it, but we can’t see it. So what the heck is going on in there? In principle, gas is a by-product as a result of two likely scenarios. First scenario is when microbes in our gut release gas after digesting the food themselves. These hungry little creatures need to eat to survive and the food we feed them produce the gas. Whereas the second scenario is when the microbes in our gut die-off, thus expelling gas from their death. So it all depends on whether you’re feeding the microbes versus killing them off. But then you might say: how do we know the difference?

I give all the answers to these questions in the following podcast noted below. Listen in to find out what is happening within our microbiome, what could be causing the issue in the first place and how to address the issues with simple suggestions. Hopefully the information contained within the podcast will blow you away, pun intended!

The GAPS 101 podcast is hosted by Monika Holland

I am a featured guest on the two episodes titled Gas!

If the podcast inspires you to work with myself, a Certified GAPS Coach, I am more than happy to help you out. I can help to clarify your gassy situation if there is still confusion and offer suggestions for going forward. Gas may be an embarrassing subject to some people, but rest assured, to myself it is a common recurring subject and I only see it as a human experience. And if you didn’t already listen to my gassy issues mentioned in the podcast, I would be happy to share my story and disclose how I handled the daily bum-tooting. Feel reassured you’re not alone and with some help, there is hope that gas becomes a thing of the past for you!
